New Contributor Kat Burglar: I've got an "Inconvenient Truth" for Al Gore

Al, you've already been knocked down once, please don't get back up!

As many of you may know, former VP Al Gore and Presidential candidate in 2000 released a book last month titled "An Inconvenient Truth" which discusses research from scientists that explains the negatives of global warming - duh - like we needed a book from Al Gore saying global warming is a bad thing. I wonder if Al included in his book that global warming has fried his brain cells, because it appears that he is holding out hope (albeit a slim one) that he will be a successful candidate for president in 2008. In an interview this past Sunday on ABC's "This Week" Al indicated that he had "all but ruled out" running for president in 08 but he stopped short of ruling it out entirely. Due to statements like this and Al's re-emergence in the national spotlight at a time when other presidential hopefuls are starting their campaigns, tounges are wagging and speculating that AG will make another go of it.

Can you believe this nonsense? I mean really, are you kidding me? Here's my "inconvenient truth" for you Al Gore - IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. You had your chance and blew it!!!! Al Gore, you let the Democratic party and the country down in 2000. If you had been a better candidate then (let's remember that AG did not even win his home state of Tennessee) and defeated Bush maybe our country would not be in such a mess today. Please, AG, I beg you to take yourself out of the race once and for all. Your time in national politics is over.

I understand exactly where you are coming from but Gore has been right on some of the most important issues of our time. Unlike far too many Congressional Democrats, he was one of the first public figures to oppose the Iraq War before it started--and he rightfully predicted the quagmire which it has become.

Anonymous - you're also right - Gore has taken the right stand on many issues, even when it has been considered unpopular. He has done alot of good and I respect him, but my point was that his days as a political candidate for president are over due to his unsuccessful run in 2000.

Right now Gore has terrible favorability/unfavorability ratings. While Hillary Clinton, who many fear is unelectable, has, according to Fox News, 50% favorable/42% unfavorable ratings, Al Gore's ratings are even worse at 41% favorable/45% unfavorable.
It is much more difficult to change a voter from unfavorable to favorable than it is to change a voter from undecided to favorable.

It's a shame that we don't choose our elected officals based on their being 'right' on important issues rather on the way they say their words, how they comb their hair, etc., etc., etc!
Just think, if we had elected someone who'd made wiser decisions over these last 6 years.....?

I would vote for Gore (again) in a heartbeat if he ran again. You say "duh" when he talks about global warming, but what you dont understand is that Bush and his Administration are denying it. And when they deny its happening, it casts doubts in peoples minds (small republican minds). Republicans laughed at Gore in 2000 when he pledged to end our dependancy on foreign oil. And they laughed at his planned initiatives to reduce global warming, but for them "the jury was" and still is "out" on global warming. Its not out. Its fact. Yes, some scientists still dont think its real. But you can find scientists that dont believe in evolution, or relativity, or even gravity. There are going to be nay-sayers to everything. Wealthy republicans dont want to believe in global warming because it will cost them money to make the companies they own abide by stricter pollution laws. And these people are Bushs biggest supporters and contributors, so of course he wont acknowledge global warming. It will cost his "elite" base millions of dollars.(which, believe me, they can spare) I think its going to take someone like Gore in 2008 to really get this country turned around both economically AND environmentally before we flush this planet down the toilet. We turned it around once by fixing hole in the ozone. We can do it again with global warming. But its going to take some real initiative and not anymore of this "the jury is still out" on global warming crap.

WHATEVER KAT,
Al Gore is Gangsta! I think he learned the lesson of being too reserved. We all know he got some fire back in his belly after getting elected by the people of the US only to lose to the supreme court.
It would piss you off it happened to you. Thats why this summer look out for his new movie:
"GORE 2: this time its personal"

Al (wearing suit, tie, and three inch diamond encrusted platinum chain, with 9mm down front of pants):No more mister passive resistance, time to kick some right wing ass.
